So, what situation are you in?

MY ADJUSTER HASNT SHOWN UP. You have surely heard of your neighbor’s experience by now and are anticipating the arrival of you insurance provider’s representative. Word to the wise: Have an experienced, qualified contractor meet the adjuster to expedite the process which will lead to fewer complications later.
I AM WAITING FOR THE PAPERWORK. If this is your situation, be patient. A few things to note: Did your adjuster adequately list and cover all damages? Is your mortgage company’s name on the check with yours? If so, you may have a week or more of mailing fun awaiting you while your contractor waits for work to begin. Let me say it again: be patient. Most adjusters have an unusually high volume of homeowners they are dealing with and are overloaded.
I HAVE THE ADJUSTMENT AND AM READY TO GO! If you are done with the waiting game and are ready to go, keep in mind a few things: ROOFING is NOT a cold weather activity. Don’t chance it. A roof needs proper heat to seal itself. Be weary of January roofers. SIDING on the other hand, can be done all year round. And remember, the more signs a company has, the less likely you are going to receive top-notch service. There may be exceptions, but unexpected business leads to hiring...unknown workers leading to... unproven results. CHOOSE WISELY!

Other questions to ponder:

Is your contractor installing foam-backed siding or hollow-back?

Are you being charged for upgrades?

Do you trust the contractor you are dealing with?

Have you called a number of references of your contractor?

Have you seen a copy of your contractor's insurance and license?

Has your adjuster been fair with everything?

Do you feel high-pressured?

Did you know that all products are not created equal?
